It will come as no revelation that the UK works the longest and least flexible hours in Europe. In fact, according to a report created in 2006 by the Trades’ Union Congress (TUC) and the Industrial Society, an increasing number of people are working in excess of 60 hours per week.

The research found that one in six people are now working more than 60 hours in an average week, compared with one in eight two years ago. This paints a bleak picture of people in the UK struggling to balance the conflicting demands of family life with the stresses and strains of work.

So how do we create more hours in the day?

By outsourcing administration, for example, by giving someone else a bundle of unglamorous activities like document creation, data capture and business support services. This way of managing business more efficiently is becoming much more popular.
It is not just medium and large sized corporations who waste valuable time on tasks which could be outsourced to specialists. In a recent article in the Evening Chronicle, it was reported that almost one in five entrepreneurs in the North East waste the equivalent of two and a half days a week on administrative tasks. According to research from Bibby Financial Services, 17% of North East business owners spend 18.5 hours a week doing basic administration work. The reality is that owners and managers are spending a staggering amount of their valuable time on basic tasks - rather than other important activities such as generating new business.

Outsourcing is no longer just about businesses saving money. It is now about getting things done more quickly and more efficiently, getting to market faster than your competitors. It means having maximum flexibility with your workforce and gaining access to high quality employees you otherwise could not afford.

Business administration can be a very time consuming set of tasks, however these are essential in keeping all businesses running smoothly. Many individuals find the idea of outsourcing unsettling, how do you know you can really trust someone with your business, your livelihood?

Often people are so used to doing things themselves, they think it’s simply easier to continue to do so. These individuals should ask themselves; if I don’t change anything….how can I expect my business to change and grow? The answer is, it can’t and won’t grow unless you make calculated, intelligent decisions such as outsourcing business administration to specialists.

Cost effective - hiring staff in the UK costs approximately 1.5 times what you pay them. Hidden expenses like National Insurance, computer equipment, holiday pay, sick pay, pensions and so on add to the employee bill. With Admin Matters UK you only pay for time worked and we are self-employed so you do not have to worry about hidden costs. No need to pay a ‘middle man’ agency fee for temporary staff with no attachment to your success.
